The Stanley Hotel!

You know the creepy, grand hotel that inspired, in part, Stephen King's The Shining? This one? The one full of ghost stories and bygone grandeur? Yeah, Michelle and I are going, the weekend before Halloween, with a bunch of folks from Nightwatch radio. How freaking cool. Hurry up, October!

Is it bad that I'm almost more psyched about the costume ball than the ghosts?

Dallas BMSE this month

If you're interested in ghosts, you might also be interested in the Body-Mind-Spirit Expo. It's happening in Dallas July 21 &22, and a few other locations this year as well.

Chris and Ginger Pennell, former ghost hunters and now Spirit Quest pioneers, will be there too.

Q & A No Access

An anonymous poster left us this message:

"Well I have to say that at the
place that I work at, seems to be haunted. I and other
employees have seen things more than twice that are not
normal. We have reported it to our boss, but we cant
seem to do anything about it. The problem is allowing
outsiders, it is controlled by goverment, so the
chances of even steping into the building are 0-none."

I would suggest that you try to document these strange happenings yourself. If recording devices don't break the rules of your workplace (though I suspect they might) set up an audio or video recorder. You could take pictures. Barring all of that, I suggest keeping a log or diary of experiences you and your coworkers have had. You might be able to piece together some semblamce of proof with the last method. Best of luck!

Q & A Sending Photos

Lucille left us this message:

"I have a picture I would love
to show you. Visiting Alaska in the Kenai area. I
took a picture of a moose but up above the moose is an
orb. I would love to send it to you."

Lucille, we'll take a look at your picture if you'd like. We would have replied to you directly, but you didn't leave a way for us to contact you. You can also join our yahoogroup and post the picture there to get more comments, if you'd like. The link for our yahoogroup mailing list is in the sidebar.

The Dead Sleep Encircled

Today, thinking about endings and beginnings, I came across this quote:

“It’s no accident that the church and the graveyard stand side by side. The city of the dead sleeps encircled by the city of the living.”

Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider, Northern Exposure, Lost and Found, 1992

And they’re right. And where would we be without our watchers?
